Search & Rescue Recovery Group is a Genesee County–based nonprofit dedicated to providing safe, stable, and supportive housing for individuals working to rebuild their lives.
Right here in Genesee County, too many of our neighbors face the same reality: recovery, stability, and independence are nearly impossible without a safe place to live. Individuals impacted by addiction, homelessness, incarceration, abuse, military service trauma, disability, or aging out of foster care often find themselves stuck—not because of a lack of effort or desire to change, but because of a lack of housing options that support long-term recovery.
Search & Rescue Recovery Group exists to help close that gap.
Our mission is to provide safe, stable, and supportive housing in Genesee County that promotes long-term recovery, personal growth, and independent living for individuals who are ready to move forward but need a structured and compassionate environment to do so.
We envision a stronger, more compassionate Genesee County, where every individual—regardless of their past—has access to safe housing and supportive services that allow them to heal, grow, and live independently.
We serve individuals in Genesee County who are often overlooked or underserved, including:
Individuals in recovery from substance use
Veterans transitioning back into civilian life
Adults with disabilities
Survivors of abuse and trauma
Individuals returning to the community after incarceration
Young adults aging out of foster care
Individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness
We believe people are more than their circumstances. Every resident we serve is treated with dignity, accountability, and respect.
Search & Rescue Recovery Group develops and operates transitional and supportive housing programs designed to meet Genesee County residents where they are and help them take meaningful steps forward.
Our housing programs emphasize:
Safety and stability
Structure and accountability
Peer support and community connection
Access to local resources and services
Personal responsibility and long-term independence
Housing is not the finish line—it is the foundation for recovery, employment, reunification with family, and community reintegration.
We take a community-centered approach rooted in the realities of Genesee County. We work to build partnerships with local service providers, healthcare organizations, faith communities, employers, and civic leaders to ensure residents are connected to the support systems already serving our county.
By keeping services local and relationships strong, we help residents remain connected to the community they call home.
The name reflects our purpose.
Search & Rescue means finding people where they are—often during the most difficult chapter of their lives—and walking alongside them as they recover and rebuild. It represents hope, second chances, and the belief that every life in Genesee County has value and potential.
Lasting change in Genesee County requires community involvement.
Whether you are a donor, volunteer, partner organization, or advocate, your support helps create safe housing, restore dignity, and open doors to new beginnings for our neighbors. Together, we can strengthen individuals, families, and the community we all share.
